ZAPPRO ELECTRONIC PULSE GENERATOR BY: ROBIN KEITH ELKINS, OWNER ELK INDUSTRIES The ZAPPRO electronic pulse generator is a compact, portable, easy-to-use electronic pulse generator. The output waveform is well characterized, with a positive-going multistable pulses (when referenced to the negative or ground terminal) generated within the device. The output current is over 100 milliamperes average, and the output voltage is nominally 9 volts when fitted with a 9 volt battery. Performance of the ZAPPRO is assured because of the simple, yet effective and efficient, multistable oscillator circuit design. Convenient cables with attachment clips deliver the output pulses to the desired load, or, larger surface area copper electrodes (90mm length 25.4mm diameter tubing) can be employed (and are supplied with the pulse generator). The circuitry uses the most advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) in it's construction. This renders the ZAPPRO a very rugged and reliable portable electronic instrument. It is virtually impervious to shock and vibration, and will not be damaged or broken if dropped, for instance. A highly visible red Light Emitting Diode (LED) indicator shows that the battery is good and that the output pulses are being emitted by the ZAPPRO's oscillator (electronic pulse generator). A printed circuit board has the electronic components of the ZAPPRO mounted on it; said Printed Circuit Board (PCB) measures less than 1 square inch in size. This tiny size is an excellent example of Micro-miniaturization of electronic circuitry. The output of the ZAPPRO is also "short circuit" protected on it's output via a simple current-limiting resistor. This design provides for an efficient, rugged, relable, compact electronic instrument which can be "hand-held", placed on a desktop, or any number of locations to suit the desires of the user. Also, this design renders the instrument to be "built to last" with countless applications, as well. The only service requirement for the instrument is an occasional replacement of the standard 9 volt battery, which is easily performed. Since the ZAPPRO is enclosed in a durable plastic enclosure, the circuitry within the enclosure is well protected against most any type of damage.
